Wealth, HELP, and Happiness: The Rise of Modern Therapy & the Real Problem It Fails to Address

Doesn’t it seem like everybody has a therapist these days?  I will answer my own question with a resounding, “Yes.”  The common view of therapy for most is that therapy is the ‘new’ way that you are supposed to deal with you’re problems, and by all means, everybody has problems, right?  Logically, this boils down to the fact that if you aren’t in therapy then you are probably in denial.  When we turn on the TV and watch sitcoms we see therapy flaunted like it’s candy, and when we read celebrity magazines it seems that the who’s who of celebrities are proud of the fact that they are in therapy.

It’s the new thing.

Being in therapy is now cool.

One of the most popular Psychology magazines, Psychology Today, understands this and speaks directly to the number one basic problem.  Sin!  But let me be clear, Psychology Today would never stoop so low as to call the basic human problem sin.  Absolutely not!  To them, and to most intellectual psychological elites, there is no sin… we just have lots of problems.  When you go to their website you can find help for everything from addictions to dealing with the stress in your life.  One of the main quotes on their website is, “If you follow sacred texts literally, attempts to be completely virtuous are doomed from the start.”
